This tree, whose silhouette is reminiscent of cherry, is carved by a Quebec artist, Michel Couture, in his own species of cherry wood. Thus we can have an experience of the color of the wood, its particular rib and its specific weight (its own density). Tree species also have a special timbre just as individual. By hitting it with a wooden mallet of a percussion instrument for example, we can penetrate ever deeper into the true nature of this wood species. Toddlers do this instinctively when after having explored, with attention, in their mouth, by the pressure they exert on their gums with the object, multiple aspects of it; they hit him on the table or on any other surface, as if asking him, "Who are you?"
And even more, beyond these externally perceptible data, we can feel something of the atmosphere that we feel when crossing a birch woodlot that is quite different from crossing a sugar bush or a fir forest, for example.
See in the online shop "All 7 species of wood" as an individual product where the description goes one step further.
